Three And A Half

  Summary

A film based on the repetition of the number three: three artists, a painter, a writer, and a director, telling three stories their own way. Several of the actors in the movie playing three different characters. The half story is probably their encounter on the subway.

All three stories follow the immigration theme, the difficulty of adaptation to a new, more anonymous, more selfish society, and to the loss of values and people they hold dear. A woman who breaks her own window in an attempt to get out of her solitude, but finds her efforts vain. An old professor coping badly with the loss of his wife. A young actor struggling between the difficult start of his career, his gay identity, and the lack of acceptance of both from the part of his immigrant friends who cling to the conventional ideas they brought with them from former Yugoslavia. 2002.
