The English Patient

  Summary

A tragic love story in a North African landscape ravaged by World War II. A Hungarian count Laszlo Almásy (Ralph Fiennes) joins an archeological expedition and falls in love with the wrong woman, Katharine Clifton (Kristin Scott Thomas). The jealousy of her husband Geoffrey Clifton (Colin Firth) causes her death and Almasy blames himself for it. Struck with grief, he crashes a plane with himself and her body, but survives it. He ends up in Italy with terrible burns, in the care of a Canadian nurse Hana (Juliette Binoche), and the story unfolds from his memories. A parallel love story between Hana and the mine-clearer Kip (Naveen Andrews) complements the main plot.1996.

Matthew Ferguson plays a wounded Canadian soldier who asks if there is anybody from Ontario around, for he feels his end is near and would like to see someone from his region before he dies.
