Nikita is the best field operative after Michael and occasionally a team leader and profiler. She is pretty, charming, rebellious, with a talent for getting into trouble, and Birkoff is more or less secretly in love with her. She cares very much about Birkoff but can only see him as a friend (or the little brother). They help each other a lot and are often seen chatting in Comm. Birkoff asks her out in Noise but is gently turned down. Nikita's clone Abby seduces Birkoff in Cat and Mouse, though Nikita is unhappy about it. Even Jason helps her out after Birkoff dies on behalf of how much Birkoff has been talking about her. She is his best friend after Walter.
